“Work at height, no room for error” the government launched a campaign Monday, May 26 to prevent falls from height, which are a major cause of accidents, especially in the construction industry in which they occur “all five minutes in France. ”

The countryside, including the initiative of the Ministries of Labour and Agriculture in partnership with leading experts in risk prevention, aims to educate business leaders and owners, especially roofers, carpenters or farmers.

It will result in particular by sending a letter to the Minister of Labour François Rebsamen those responsible for 70.000 companies most exposed, with a particular folder. Videos will also be posted on the website www.chutesdehauteur.com and communication will be relayed in the professional press.

Falls from height are one of the leading causes of work accidents, particularly in the construction industry where they represent 16% of accidents are the leading cause of serious and fatal accidents (30% of deaths).

In 2012, falls from height caused more than 17,000 accidents with work stoppage in construction and 29 deaths. The main causes of falling are no collective protection (scaffolding, platforms without guardrails), lack of fall protection harness or faulty devices.
